Sun: Prominences, Kinetic Temperature
Scientific paper
The line pair He 3888 and H_8_ 3889 has been observed simultaneously with the Ca^+^8498 line in a number of quiescent prominences. The He/H_8_ emission ratio R is found to cover defined parts of a general anti-correlation with the total H_8_ emission, depending on the kinetic temperature, T_kin_, of the individual prominence: High H_8_ brightness is related to small R and Tkin values and preferably occurs in prominences with less significant fine-structure.
