We study non-minimal extension of the standard supersymmetric models focused on the neutrino and sneutrino sector. We demonstrate that sneutrinos can be viable dark matter candidate and compatible with the direct searches of WIMPs, within a standard seesaw mechanism in the framework of low energy supersymmetric models. Then we move to minimal supergravity models: we show that the inverse seesaw mechanism for generating neutrino masses naturally reconciles the small neutrino masses with the correct sneutrino relic density and accessible direct detection rates in nuclear recoil experiments.
