Astronomical time measurements reveal waves with periods from 718 to 144 min. Some of these periods are multiples of the sidereal day. The wave with the largest amplitude has a period of 159m.56 which is close to the period of global oscillations of the solar surface. The author makes an analysis of short-period waves and suggests further investigations of the diurnal irregularity of the earth's rotation.
