Spectroscopic observations of the Seyfert galaxies Mkn 1239 and Mkn 1298 are presented. The spectrum of Mkn 1239 is noteworthy in terms of the absence of [N II] λλ6548, 6583 as well as the unusually low I(N1 + N2)/I(Hβ)NC ratio. This fact suggests that the narrow line spectrum of the object can be due to a component with features typical of normal H II regions, rather than to a Seyfert-2 component, as common in many Seyfert-1 galaxies. Mkn 1298 is a typical Seyfert-1 galaxy and seems to be a good candidate for future variability studies.
