Supernova Remnants (SNRs) provide excellent targets to probe the energetics of the supernova explosions, the production of heavy elements, the formation of compact objects, the interaction between their fast-moving shocks and the surrounding medium, and the physical conditions of the ISM in which they are expanding. I will highlight X-ray studies with Chandra and XMM-Newton of a small sample of young (a few thousand year-old) SNRs targeted to address the above-mentioned science. These SNRs include targets discovered at radio wavelengths with the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey.
