We report on the use of archival HST and FUSE data to determine the gas-phase abundances of singly-ionized magnesium (Mg II), silicon (Si II), and iron (Fe II) for 20 lines of sight. Of particular interest are the occasional detections of very weak Si II and Fe II lines (absorption lines with minimal prior published detections). We also discuss implications for the f-values of many of the observed lines. This research is part of a larger study of gas-phase abundances and depletions of common elements with the ultimate goal of testing dust grain models. Additionally, this work will provide an important foundation for planned observations of more heavily reddened lines of sight with the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph.
