We are looking at the star formation in dense clouds associated with 15 HII regions. We have selected objects in the outer Galaxy, primarily along the Perseus arm to minimize confusion with background sources and to provide the best estimates of the kinematic distances (for those objects for which no direct distance determination has been made). For each object we are using the JCMT sub-millimeter telescope to make large 12CO maps of HII regions to study the clumpy structure and to find the dense cores. We then use ointed observations in 13CO and CS in dense cores to measure physical properties that affect the star formation process: density, temperature, clump masses, velocity structure and line widths. We already have the maps and pointed observation data for 6 of our sources and have started analysis of this data set. In the next step these data will be combined with near-infrared JHK observations to study the embedded stellar clusters. We have only a small set of JHK data at this time. Our preliminary results will be shown in this presentation.
