Simple asymptotic formulae are presented and used to predict the effect of rotation and magnetism on the fine structure in the spectrum of solar oscillations. The authors compare the linear effect of rotation on the fine structure to the quadratic effect of rotation. The asymptotic formulae for the magnetically induced fine structure are used to schematically determine the requisite field size to cause an observable change in the structure and the nature of the change.
