Photometric observations of the double lined spectroscopic binary UX Ari in the B and V bands for three observing seasons are discussed with respect to wave migration, spot activity and the system's variability. A wave minimum has been detected on the light curve and found to have a 5-6 yr cycle. The cycle may be produced by the regular appearance and migration of starspots from high latitudes to the equator. The visual magnitude has been nearly constant (6.51) from 1974-83, with very little contribution from an observed intrinsic variability. The data imply that the variation arises from starspots and not from an intrinsic feature.
