The relative times of contacts of the lunar and solar limbs for undisturbed sections of the photosphere and faculae are determined from slitless spectrograms of the total solar eclipse of July 31, 1981. A comparison of the observed times of local contacts and those calculated with allowance for the lunar relief showed that in active regions the apparent limb lies above the undisturbed photosphere by an average of about 120 km. The results obtained for the eclipse of July 10, 1972, are confirmed.
