Narrow-band optical imaging observations using the Anglo-Australian Telescope and 843 MHz radio observations using the Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope of the X-ray sources in the SMC listed by Tanaka were used to identify three supernova remnants. In addition, results of optical observations at the positions of two shell-like radio sources in the SMC and two in the LMC show that they are supernova remnants. This brings the number of identified supernova remnants in the SMC to 11 and in the LMC to 27.
