An emission nebula has been discovered near the core of the Local Group dwarf elliptical galaxy NGC 185. On the basis of the high intensities of forbidden emission lines of S II and N II relative to hydrogen alpha, it is concluded that the nebula is shock heated and most likely a supernova remnant. This feature is possibly related to the existence of a Population I component in NGC 185. The ratios of forbidden N II to S II emission in the nebula suggest the interstellar medium in NGC 185 is at most moderately metal poor (less than about 1/3 the metal of the sun).
