An accurate numerical method is presented for the solution of the transfer equations in a plane-parallel atmosphere in which scattering occurs according to Rayleigh's law. Some results are given for the polarization and limb darkening of both integrated and monochromatic radiation emerging from grey atmospheres with various ratios of scattering to absorption. The method is equally applicable to non-grey atmospheres.
