Gravitational Radiation, Time Of Periastron Passage, Orbits Of Binary Stars, Influence
Scientific paper
The influence of the gravitational radiation damping on the time of periastron passage of a binary system is examined. It turns out that the gravitational radiation damping yields secular, periodic and mixed periodic variation of the time of periastron passage. As a consequence, the crossing of the periastron occurs earlier (advance) at each revolution. A numerical estimation of such an effect for eight binary stars is given. The results obtained are discussed.
