Toward the end of the 18th century, Herschel showed that the sun moves
at a velocity of 19.7 km/sec with respect to the neighboring stars, in
direction toward the Hercules constellation. In the present paper, the
method of Lyman-alpha line emission is used to determine the relative
velocity of solar motion in the interstellar medium.
