We have pointed observations with the ROSAT PSPC toward four high galactic latitude clouds. Previously published ROSAT data have revealed that the high latitude diffuse soft x-ray background is partially shadowed by some high galactic latitude clouds. The emission that originates beyond those clouds is not isotropic, however, but appears to vary by at least a factor of five on angular scales of order 50°. This implies that the hot gas in the galactic halo is a localized rather than a global phenomenon. The pointings presented here were selected to probe the location along the line of sight of the hot galactic halo, its angular extent, and variations in its brightness.
