The discovery of an extremely hot white dwarf of spectral type DA about 28 arcmin from the center of the galactic cluster NGC 6405 is reported. The atmospheric parameters derived from the observed equivalent widths of the Balmer lines and theoretical model atmospheres are T(eff) = 70,000 K, log g = 7.9. While a large number of white dwarfs with helium-dominated atmospheres are known in the range T(eff) of roughly 60,000 K to 100,000 K, hydrogen-dominated spectra (DA) are extremely rare. The new object seems to be one of the hottest DA with a reasonable well established temperature.
