There are numerous efforts to detect charged and neutral particles at energies from 10(11) to 10(20) eV using ground-based sensors. The results of gamma -ray observations at TeV and PeV energies will be discussed in terms of what is known about the most likely astrophysical sources with emphasis on the characteristics of AGNs. In addition, the status of several new projects to observe high energy neutrinos and charged cosmic rays will also be described.
