We present KAO mapping observations in the [CII] 158 microns line of both the S140 HII region/molecular cloud interface and the extended Rosette Molecular Cloud Complex obtained with the FIFI/MPE instrument. In S140, the combination with data of similar angular resolution in (12/13) CO 2-1 and 3-2 and [CI] (3) P_1-(3) P_0 (492 GHz) obtained at the KOSMA 3m-telescope allows a detailed comparison with the chemical and physical conditions predicted in PDR models. In the RMC, FIFI's frequency switching mode allowed to detect very weak, extended [CII] emission from deep within the cloud complex. Comparison with CO mapping and recent optical images published by Block et al. show the [CII] emission to be well correlated with clump edges and optical rims. Additional C(+) is created by embedded sources in some of the clump cores.
