I will display two Macintosh programs that are intended for undergraduate instruction. One program displays the color-magnitude diagrams of selected constellations and then permits the user to build gray model atmospheres for specified M, R, and L. The program computes the gas structure and displays the emitted spectrum and B-V color. The program can hold and compare two models. The other program simulates the random walk of photons in a homogeneous star with various choices about the dimensionality of the star and the distribution of the free paths. The program constructs a histogram of the times of photon escapes from the star. This work is funded in part by NSF Grant MDR-91-55708.
