The period variation of ST Per was reconsidered in the context of new models of the interpretation of cyclic period variations. The long-term behavior of the orbital period was examined using all available minima timings. A new compilation was made of observed times of minima of ST Per from original sources. A rotostat hypothesis is introduced to explain the alternating change in the rotating state of the cooler component of the binary system. The (O-C) residuals of all compiled times of minima were computed from the linear ephemeris and (O-C) diagrams are presented. The alternating character of the period change was studied critically in terms of mass loss and mass transfer processes, magnetic activity of the subgiant secondary, and light-time effects due to two additional component stars in the system.
