Data on the intensity of CH4 absorption bands at 6190 and 7250 A are used to determine the parameters of the outer atmosphere and cloud layer of Saturn in the framework of the two-layer model for absorption-band formation. The difference between the unequal estimates of the volume scattering coefficient for equatorial and southern temperate belts of Saturn obtained from the measurements of these two absorption bands may be considered as an indication of inhomogeneity in the cloud layer, whose vertical density gradient is higher in the temperate belt than in the equatorial belt. Analysis of the latitudinal variations in CH4 absorption and ultraviolet reflectivity indicates that the effective boundary of vertical aerosol diffusion is higher in equatorial and southern polar regions than in the temperate belt.
