Precise knowledge of the spacecraft trajectories with respect to the surface of the planet is needed for the purpose of the mapping of the Venus surface using Venera 15 and 16 radar data. This paper describes work carried out at Keldysh Applied Mathematics Institute involving the a posteriori determination of the orbits of Venera 15 and 16 on the basis of earth-based trajectory measurements and onboard altimetry measurements. The processing system used at the Institute is described in detail.
