It is found that in the case of a sphere of rigid matter, there is a fundamental difference between the results of the general theory of relativity and the bimetric theory of gravitation. The former gives a finite limit for the mass, while according to the latter there is no mass limit. From the standpoint of the bimetric theory, it is suggested that there may exist a limiting incompressible state of matter and that this is the final state after gravitational collapse.
