It is now possible to establish firmly cluster ages and the detailed relationships between cluster parameters and theoretical models on the basis of a study of color-magnitude diagrams (cmds). Thus, broad-band photometry of intermediate aged and globular clusters has been obtained with a 2.2 m telescope and a CCD camera since 1981. In the present paper, a summary is provided of some of this work. New data with respect to NGC 2158 are in agreement with previous abundance measurements, but suggest an age substantially older than that quoted by Arp and Cuffey (1962). It is pointed out that the large improvement in the photometric precision of the cmd makes its possible to determine the age of the cluster more accurately. Attention is also given to the globular clusters NGC 1904 and Pal 4.
