The infrared source MWC 349 was resolved by one-dimensional infrared
speckle interferometry in east-west, and marginally in north-south
direction. This is considered as direct evidence for a circumstellar
dust distribution, possibly disk-shaped, postulated by earlier optical
and radio investigations.
