The propagation of shock waves generated by a postulated explosion at the Galactic center is calculated in the Galactic plane. The motions of the shocks are strongly affected by the density distribution in the ambient nuclear disk. Calculated l-V maps of shocked gas are compared with the observed features of molecular clouds at absolute values of l less than 2 deg. These molecular clouds are interpreted as being the aggregate of segments of four circular shock waves resulting from an explosion of magnitude 10 to the 56th ergs which occurred 1 Myr ago.
