The application general performances of optimization for automated correction of optical systems assumes control functions, defined for every optical system. This application is connected with some problems. The authors' aberration theory permit a reduction of these problems without the loss of optical importance. The classical Seidel-theory can be obtained from the aberration theory for extra-axial object points. The described basic evaluation permits to correct optical systems with a numerical aperture up to 0.14 with a minimum of expense with respect to calculation. With respect to higher apertures a further correction with the aid of wave optical principles is necessary.
