Gravity Waves: Earth Ionosphere

A two-dimensional evolutionary equation describing the dynamics of nonlinear wave disturbances in the neutral component at F-region heights of the ionosphere is derived. A broad range of solutions is investigated numerically, and the excitation of traveling disturbances of the F-layer electron concentration by nonlinear internal gravity waves is considered. As an example, the model problem is solved for moderate- and large-scale wave effects of a solar eclipse.
