We have considered a sample of 164 planetary nebulae in the direction of the Galactic center. Among them, we have distinguished a group whose objects pertain most probably to the Galactic bulge and another whose objects belong most probably to the Galactic disk. For all the objects we have determined in a coherent way the chemical composition. Our main conclusions are: (1) The median O/H abundance in the bulge PNe population is larger than in the disk population seen in the direction of the center; (2) The O/H gradient of the disk population flattens in the most internal parts of the Galaxy; (3) The O/H distribution of bulge PNe is similar in shape to that of the metalicity distribution of bulge giants, but narrower. Among our sample, one object, SB 32, probably belongs to the Galactic halo.
