We study the form of the X-ray absorber in the binary system Cygnus X-3.
We fit a BeppoSAX 1-100 keV spectrum. We find that the intrinsic
absorption (i.e., above that due to the interstellar medium) is due to a
highly ionized plasma, probably originating in the wind of the
companion. The ionized wind also contributes to the X-ray emission.
