Several properties of the Saturnian satellite Hyperion strongly suggest that this object was catastrophically disrupted by an external impactor. The resulting fragments had a complex orbital evolution mainly influenced by Titan. The flux of fragments was even lower in the inner part of the Saturnian system, ruling out the possibility that Population II craters on the inner satellites were originated by Hyperion's fragments.
