The problem is considered of the localization of the source of Alfvén waves with periods ⪆5 min observed in the solar wind. The conclusion is drawn that the waves are generated in the region near the transition layer (upper chromosphere and lower corona). A comparison is carried out of the models of the solar atmosphere with a homogeneous and a strongly inhomogeneous (tubes) magnetic field. The form of the power spectrum of the outgoing Alfvén waves is discussed.
