The authors present the results of laser magnetic resonance measurements performed on the ground 2P state of singly ionized atomic carbon (C II). The 2P3/2<-2P1/2 fine-structure intervals of both 12C+ and 13C+ have been determined with a precision of approximately 1 ppm, and the gJ factors to approximately one part in 104. The highly precise values of the 12C II and 13C II fine-structure intervals should allow the interstellar 12C/13C ratio to be unambiguously determined in a number of environments.
