Polarimetric measurements are reported for three β Cephei stars, β Cru, α Vir and σ Sco. Although the data analysis suggests that periodicities close to fundamental photometric variations are present at a statistically significant level, these are shown to be spurious resulting from the way the measurements have been assembled, covering a few hours observation per night on a small number of nights. There is, however, an indication that α Vir is displaying a variable polarization possibly connected either with its instability or its binary nature.
