Independent lines of evidence for the presence of relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei (AGN) include high resolution radio maps, superluminal expansion measurements, brightness temperature limits, synchrotron self-Compton predictions of the X-ray flux density. Due to relativistic effects, the physical parameters observed from jet structures are quite different from their corresponding rest frame values. As a consequence, any discussion involving the physics of sources having jet phenomena must take this alteration into account. Here, for example, the consequences of relativistic bulk motion on the absorption of gamma-rays by pair producing photon-photon collisions with X-rays are investigated. It is shown that gamma-ray spectral measurements of AGN can yield independent estimates of the Doppler factor of the jet. Futhermore, use of the gamma-ray data in conjunction with X-ray and radio measurements enable a unique set of parameters to be obtained which describe the geometry and the kinematics of the jet motion.
