A system study is being conducted to develop methods of 2-m aperture class continuously during astronomical observations; when operating several telescopes in interferometric configuration, such mobility obviates costly delay lines and may also yield superior and faster coverage of the u, v plane. Mobility entails stiff, vibration-free structures as well as metrology systems for speed and position control. A solution is presented in which a telescope transporter unit is equipped with two sets of tripod supports that are rigidly connected to foundations during telescope operations.
