A thermospheric density model is proposed which provides a reliable description of the thermospheric total density distribution and variations. It is noted that the defining coefficients should be improved near the model height limits of 200 and 500 km. The model is found to compare favorably with the empirical model of Moore and Boulton (1986) for a height of 285 km.
