Recent radio observations of Herbig-Haro objects and their environments have involved molecular and atomic neutral-gas studies yielding information on three key components of these regions of ecent star formation and outflows (1) the dense, quiescent gas surrounding the exciting source of the outflow, (2) the high-velocity bipolar outflow gas, which is most likely ambient gas accelerated by a stellar wind, and (3) the extreme high-velocity gas which is either the stellar wind itself or gas closely associated with the stellar wind. The ionized-gas component is also revealed in its free-free emission; radio observations of this continuum emission from these objects and their exciting sources are important in studies of the outflow phenomenon in star-forming regions.
