Chandrasekhar's (1939) perturbation theory on rotating white dwarfs has been extended and generalized in order to investigate rapid and critical rotations. The present work focuses on the approximate phase of the method, and it includes terms up to third order in the perturbation parameter. A generalized model of rotation is proposed which includes as subcases both uniform and differential rotation.
