Automated star counts from UK Schmidt plates are used to study the two-dimensional structure of the Fornax dwarf elliptical galaxy. The previously noted globular clusters and apparent asymmetry in the major-axis profile are recovered. Best-fit contours which are constrained to be concentric and elliptical have been constructed from the star count data. The scale size of the nonsymmetric structures is about 170 pc, and the crossing times for these features are on the order of about 10 to the 8th yr. It is suggested that the present density anomalies may be the result of localized bursts of intermediate-age star formation.
