The inclination effects due to the internal absorption on the surface photometric parameters are statistically investigated using the homogeneous dataset of 184 disk galaxies of type T = -3 to 9 in the Virgo and the UMa groups observed by the authors. A comparison of simple galaxy models with the observation in the concentration-index versus surface-brightness diagram suggests that the absorbing layer in a typical late-type spiral is effectively as thick as the galaxy disk, has an effective optical depth of τv ≡ 0.7, and radially extends from the galaxy center up to two-thirds of the photometric radius.
