Techniques for resolving the magnetospheres of pulsars by utilizing lensing effects in the ISM are described and demonstrated. The basic principles of diffractive interstellar scintillations are reviewed; the problems involved in resolving magnetospheres are recalled; and multiple imaging events are characterized. Particular attention is given to the fringe phase for two-dimensional lenses and for standard pulsar models. Predicted wave forms are compared with observations in graphs, and it is shown on the basis of preliminary results that emission regions may be located as far as 10 to the 8th cm from the observed pulse components. The implications for relativistic beaming angles are discussed.
