On the basis of the present observational data it is shown that there exists quantitative similarity between the observed characteristics of the UV Ceti stars of the solar vicinity and the flare stars in clusters and associations. The flare light curves, spectra in minimum, luminosities, flare duration, mean flare frequency, energy spectra, colours of flare emission, Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams, flare-ups in radio and X-ray regions are used. The existing differences between these stars, mainly quantitative ones (luminosities, energy spectra, Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams, connection with diffuse nebulae etc.), are explained satisfactorily by the differences in their ages, the UV Ceti stars on the average being the oldest objects.
