The radiative transfer of polarized light in an inhomogeneous plasma is considered. It is argued that the solution to the transfer equation in a homogeneous plasma can be written in a more transparent form using the parameters specifying the characteristic waves instead of the absorption and birefringence coefficients. An analytical solution to the general transfer equation together with some numerical results are used to discuss transfer of polarized radiation for moderately large coupling. An explicit solution is derived which determines when the properties of the transition region are important for the emergent polarization.
