A method is described for reducing the threshold energy of atmospheric Cerenkov telescopes which comprise two or more light collectors operated in coincidence. The reduction in threshold energy is greater for higher coincidence multiplicity. The method is applicable to any system of two or more detectors which operate with a combination of independent background noise and samples of a common signal.
