Scientific paper

Magnetic neutral sheets in weakly ionized interstellar gas are rapidly
annihilated by ohmic diffusion. In this paper we extend the model to a
sheared magnetic configuration, and show that the magnetic pressure
associated with even a small nonzero field drastically reduces the
reconnection rate of the reversing component.
