The luminous matter in the universe, as it has been observed up to now, shows an extremely inhomogeneous distribution from the sizes and shapes of individual galaxies to the clustering hierarchy of galaxies into groups, clusters and superclusters the astronomers have discovered a wealth of interesting structures. There is no evidence yet of a largest scale in the architecture of the galaxy distribution. Even the statistical description of these observations is not yet completed.
