The paper describes an interactive procedure for the surface photometry of elliptical galaxies from images or plates of typical 512x512 pixels format supported on standard digital magnetic tape. The procedure runs on small computer systems with high flexibility and effectiveness and includes a complete documentation of the processing made. The total processing time is about one hour for an image of 512x512 pixels. The results obtained emphasize the convenience of the interactive approach for an accurate analysis of small quantities of high quality images.
