The paper describes a method for designing a field corrector consisting
of four separate spherical lenses. Attention is given to preliminary
design and to final computer-implemented design. The field corrector of
the 5.08-m telescope of the Palomar Observatory is calculated and
results are compared with those of Wynne (1967).
